If you ever thought, I am worthless, you are not alone.

Maybe sometimes you lay in bed and feel, I am worthless.

Maybe you feel insignificant, useless, or believe you have nothing valuable to offer the world.

You are not alone. And you do have something very special to offer the world that only you can give.

First, if you are feeling worthless, don’t be afraid to ask for help.

You certainly are not alone and it is more common than you may think.  

So many people walk around, maybe even with smiles on their faces, but inside are sad, lonely, and depressed.

It could be due to childhood trauma.

Maybe you blame yourself for certain events in your life.

As a child, you may have been criticized a lot in your past.

And maybe you are just stressed to the max.

It is ok to not be ok.

And here are three ways to help.

Start your day with gratitude

It can be easy to focus on the things going wrong, but sometimes a quick shift in perspective can set the tone for your whole day.

Choose to see things differently.

Choose to focus on the good versus the bad.

Choose to know that, as my friend Tony Robbins always says, “Life doesn’t happen to us, it happens for us.”

Have you been through some tough and unfair times? Without a doubt.

Was it ok? Absolutely not.

Should we deny it happened or that you may be in a really challenging situation? No way.

But there is an opportunity for growth in every moment and every adversity.

Those moments made you who you are today. Made you resilient.

Those moments are maybe moments someone else is going through right now that you can help.

There is something you and only you can offer this world.

It is a product of all your experiences.

Your growth.

Your knowledge.

Be the strength for someone else because we all rise together.

Identify your triggers

Maybe a certain person triggers your past trauma.

It may or may not be the person directly related to the trauma, but sometimes our response can be like we are in that trauma all over again.  

The body and brain remembers the trauma and sometimes can respond the same as when you were in the trauma, even if it happened a long time ago.

Something in that moment is triggering you to respond that way.

Once you can understand that, and the reasons why, then it is also easier to understand why you respond certain ways to certain triggers too.

It is like connecting pieces of a puzzle.

Once you see the pieces fit, the whole picture comes together.

Your own self-awareness is the first step.

Give yourself some grace

How you are feeling about yourself is not the truth.

Your brain wants you to think that it is in fact the truth, but I tell you with 1,000% confidence it is not.

You are not worthless.

Have compassion for yourself.

Empathize with yourself and everything you are going through just as you would your closest friend.

It is ok to have these feelings.

It does not make you ill-equipped. It does not make you weak.

It makes you human.

You can overcome it.

No matter what your challenges are. No matter how you may feel.

You can overcome this and bring joy back into your life.

Love yourself for exactly who and where you are right at this moment.

Forgive yourself for anything you may be holding onto.

Embrace your power and strength to change those thoughts.

And allow yourself to experience joy.

Because you, my friend, are so worth it and deserve every happiness this world has waiting for you.
